Sept. 2 - Westward Ho!

Under the Arch!

Well, yesterday we drove all the way to Illinois!  Nobody complained about the long day of travel. We did not really plan to make it that far, however, there really was no great place to stop in Indiana. West Virginia and Kentucky were much more mountainous than any of us thought! We did make it to the Kentucky Horse Park and that was lovely...we did not catch any shows but got out and roamed about. We spent the night in Illinois about a hour away from Missouri. Stevie was thrilled to get to sleep in the blow up bed that was sent up to our room!

This morning we drove into St. Louis. We went to the Gateway Arch and looked at the Mississippi River. It was striking to see how tall the arch is in person. We were able to Skype from that point to the 2nd graders at NSA. Fun! After checking in with them, we went underground there to the Westward Movement museum and rode the tram to the top of the arch. I did not really enjoy this part of our experience, though the kids and Rick seemed to! (Museum was awesome...just not the tram/top part) We are now headed across Missouri to Kansas City, then north toward Omaha.
